Simrit Xpress™

PLYMOUTH, Mich., Nov. 12, 2007 – To further re-enforce its position as the Technology Specialist, Simrit – the industrial sealing products division of Freudenberg-NOK – has launched its latest Xpress™ technology for large diameter seal design. The new computer numeric control (CNC) machine allows the company to produce customized seal designs up to 100 inches in diameter (2.5 meters) for customers in a variety of industries, including mining, steel, press and many others.

The new state-of-the-art Simrit Xpress machine is a rapid prototype and production cell that offers Simrit customers a cost-effective solution for low quantity production and speedy prototyping for seals of up to 100 inches in diameter. The technology, which was first debuted by Simrit for smaller diameter seals in 2004, uses a CNC lathe that is integrated with advanced computer software to produce custom seals without mold charges.

“We are thrilled to offer this new technology to better satisfy our customers’ needs,” said Clive Hill, market development director, Merkel Heavy Duty Industry, Simrit. “Simrit’s latest Xpress technology employs quick centering, eight point jaws for fast set-up and touch-off probes to correct dimensions before a part is complete to ensure our customers receive the best parts and service for their precise needs.”

Customers will soon be able to access and design their products online, choosing from hundreds of standard designs. By visiting the Simrit web site (www.simritna.com) and clicking on the “Simrit Xpress” link, customers may select the precise Simrit material from the dozens available in stock, including polyurethanes, elastomers, plastomers, PTFEs and others. Simrit Diaphragms

PLYMOUTH, Mich., Nov. 01, 2007 – Simrit, a division of Freudenberg-NOK, announced the acquisition of the assets of Precision Industries Corporation of Germantown, Wis., a developer and manufacturer of specialized custom diaphragms. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Precision was established in 1986 as a manufacturer of high quality diaphragms, specializing in fabric-reinforced diaphragms for small engines, fuel systems, irrigation, gaseous fuels, pneumatic controls and medical regulators. In addition, Precision routinely develops custom diaphragms for use in markets requiring certifications such as UL, FDA, NSF, DoD, CSA and a variety of other regulated industries.

Precision’s product capabilities include custom diaphragms made of rubber, rubber-fabric combinations and specialty materials, as well as diaphragms and gaskets die-cut from coated fabrics. The company’s designs also encompass insert-molded diaphragms and over-molded diaphragms, but their distinction is in assembling specialized diaphragms. Using state-of-the-art equipment, including PLC controlled presses, 3-D modeling systems and robust manufacturing software, they optimize processes to bring customers diaphragm solutions which are both robust and cost-efficient.

This acquisition will allow Precision to expand their reach into a broader variety of general industry markets while leveraging the financial and R&D resources of a much larger company. In return, Simrit will add comprehensive diaphragm capabilities to their broad product offering.
